It's evident that every couple wants their guests to say sincerely after the wedding ceremony that they had a great time and everything was perfect. But remember that other people may be disappointed by something that seems perfect to you. When your guests are unhappy they will soon regret coming and may leave early. So, to keep your friends and relatives smiling you have to consider their tastes, preferences and needs. Here are some tips to help you on your way.
Date and time
Try to choose such a day for your wedding which doesn't coincide with major holidays, national events or your guests' private celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries etc.), because they might already have plans and would be at a loss which event to choose. Keep the time between the wedding ceremony, the photo shooting and the reception short. Having to wait for hours is the worst scenario for the wedding guests: they are hungry, want to sit and relax. But if a long duration is inevitable, think over a snack and some activities to keep them entertained.
Providing information
Give your guests as much information as possible: the venue, the accommodation, the time they are to arrive, any details and changes. Take into account the needs of people coming from other cities. Make sure they can freshen up and relax after travelling a long distance.
Food
On the menu you can have whatever you like, but keep in mind your guests' tastes as well. Don't overuse exotic food and try to include some widely loved dishes. Otherwise you are going to have many unhappy and hungry guests.
Traditions
Wedding traditions are certainly important but don't even try to follow all of them. It will be time-consuming and, moreover, your guests may feel uncomfortable having to go through some of them. The receiving line is one of such traditions. Most people would be glad to have just a little chat with you and congratulate you instead of standing in a line and waiting for their turn.
Consider the age of your guests
Don't forget about the older people among your guests: they'd prefer sitting in a quieter area away from the loud music, enjoying the evening. Think over the entertainments for children as well: they should have something tasty to eat and some place where they can play, not disturbing the grown-ups.
Don't split your attendants and their partners
Plan carefully the seat scheme so that your guests don't sit separately from their spouses or partners they have come with. It would be awkward and your guests would hardly enjoy the evening.
Remember that all your friends are there to have a great time and to share the joy of your big day with you. So if you don't forget about them while planning the ceremony, you will definitely have more fun seeing their happy faces and shining eyes on your wedding day.
